How long does a ceramic coating appointment take?
Short answer
At APC Auto Spa, every ceramic coating package is completed in one day or less, and the car goes home the same day. That includes washing, decontamination, a polish, the coating itself and infrared curing.
Quick facts
| Time in shop | One day or less, every package |
|---|---|
| Goes home | Same day |
| Prep included | Wash, decontamination, single-stage polish |
| Paint correction | Separate add-on, only when needed |
What happens during the appointment?
First a thorough wash. Then decontamination, which is like a facial for paint: it pulls out iron particles, tar and grit that washing alone leaves behind.
Next comes a single-stage polish to brighten the paint, then the coating goes on panel by panel. Finally the car cures under infrared lights.
Why is prep such a big part of the day?
A coating locks in whatever is underneath it. If grit or haze is on the paint, it gets sealed in. Good prep is what makes the finished car look clear and glossy.
What could make it take longer?
The single-stage polish gets paint to about 80% of perfect. If you want swirls and scratches removed beyond that, that's paint correction, a separate service done only when needed. The shop will tell you how it affects the schedule. See do you need paint correction before ceramic coating?
How APC Auto Spa does it
APC Auto Spa completes every package (Sport, Bronze, Silver and Gold) in one day or less, at either the Tukwila or Monroe shop.
Because APC cures in-house with infrared lights, you don't need to leave the car overnight to keep it dry.
