DIY ceramic coating vs professional-only coatings: does it matter?
Short answer
It does, mainly in durability and backing. Over-the-counter coatings are designed so anyone can apply them, which limits how much protection they can deliver. Professional-only coatings like Ceramic Pro are sold only to certified installers and come with a manufacturer warranty the installer registers.

Quick facts
| DIY coatings | Made to be easy for anyone to apply |
|---|---|
| Professional-only coatings | Sold only to certified installers |
| Installer training | Prep and application |
| Warranty | Manufacturer warranty, registered by installer |
Why are DIY coatings less protective?
To be forgiving for a first-timer in a driveway, a product has to be easy to spread, easy to wipe off and hard to mess up. Those same traits limit how hard and durable the finished layer can be.
What does the installer's training add?
Most of a coating's result comes from prep: washing, decontamination and polishing before anything goes on. Certified installers are trained in that prep and in applying the coating evenly.
What does the warranty add?
A professional coating comes with a manufacturer warranty, registered by the installer. If something goes wrong within the terms, there's a process to follow.
Is DIY ever the right choice?
Sure. If you enjoy the work and want some extra protection for less money, a DIY product is better than nothing. Just keep expectations realistic.
